Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

This course is ideal for anyone already working as a TA or in a similar role.

​

Teaching assistants are a integral role in the classroom. They work with the lead classroom teacher to support students, make sure lessons run smoothly and lead smaller group activities. Teaching assistants work very closely with students and often support the same ones long term. They can have a life changing impact on the people they work with.

Entry Requirements

  • You need to be working in a school with a contact 30 hours+

  • Age 19+

  • Support from your Line Manager/designated Mentor to work with you throughout the programme and support you with the 20% off-the-job training including webinars, portfolio preparation, shadowing, reading and time to attend Review meetings. Also to set the plan for the on-the-job training according to an Individual Learning Plan.

  • Have GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C (4) or above or able to achieve Level 2 English and Maths whilst on the programme (fully-supported on a one-to-one basis).

  • Have 5 GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above or equivalent and/or experience in the role or similar roles.

Have held a residency in the UK for the last three years.

Course Duration

  • 18 months in total. This includes the end point assessment.

​

Delivery Method

  • The course is delivered in a blending learning style.

  • This will include monthly workshops, online learning, as well as the trainer visiting your school for observations.

​

Travel

  • There is an expectation that learners will have to travel to a local meeting place a maximum of once a month or once every two months to complete a workshop.

​

Funding

  • This 18-month apprenticeship costs £7,000 but can be delivered at no cost to you or your setting if your setting is an Apprenticeship Levy payer.

  • If your setting doesn’t pay into the Apprenticeship Levy Fund, the government will pay 95% of your fees, with your setting contributing just 5%, which is £350.
